I am a law student learning to use the law as an instrument of social justice. It is my dream to use the law to change people’s lives for the better.
I’m originally from Kolkata, India – once the capital of British India, and a truly lovely city indeed.
At the moment though, I’m living in, and studying law at, Tamil Nadu National Law University, Trichy. It’s only been a couple of months, and I’m already loving it here – simply because I’m doing what I love.
Why did I choose law?
A. Law is my passion. I believe a lawyer has the skill-set to change people’s lives for the better. If there’s anything I love doing, it’s to help people.
B. Law is my forte. I love to write. Research is hard, but I love the challenge. I’ve been playing around with fonts, formatting styles, line spacing, margins, and everything else in MS Word for a long time. I’m a voracious reader.
From the age of 16, I’ve been writing letters and making phone calls to govt. officials to help my neighbours access what is rightfully theirs. At 17, for the first time, I sent in my comments to a public consultation. I find studying and applying the law, and everything related to it, to be an entertaining challenge.
C. I believe that true happiness comes only when we are able to combine our passions with our skills. And therefore, I chose to study law – something I’m passionate about, something I’m also good at.
